about

I recorded this in the summer of 2014 during the sessions of my EP "Keep Your Head Up/Move Your Body." My friend Jill McLain-Meister had asked me sort of last minute to record some music for her 48 Hour Film Festival project. The whole film is written, produced, filmed and edited within 48 hours for an annual film project. I had asked what kind of film they were making or what kind of music I should do. I think they were so busy filming and creating it that they may have still been in the process of figuring that out as well! One of the rules that year at the festival is that the phrase "That's liquid gold" must be used in the movie, so they thought it was a good idea if I could somehow include that into the song. But all in all, I had no clue what the film was about or what type of music should be used. This song wasn't necessarily completely ad-libbed, but it was sort of experimental and thrown together. I do think the chorus is really cool, and the hissing and main phrase was pretty funny.
